The New Plymouth Aquatics Swimming Club (NPA) is affiliated to Swimming Taranaki and Swimming New Zealand. We cater for competitive and non-competitive members and we encourage families to join up and discover swimming. We are based at the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre where we encourage and support swimmers of all capabilities to get involved with swimming and to develop this essential life skill. We promote and encourage an environment where the whole family can get involved and contribute to the success of each swimmer and the success of the club.
At NPA we welcome swimmers who have completed a learn to swim programme and who are keen to develop their swimming further. NPA swimmers are assigned to swimming squads dependent on their swimming ability. Our squads cater for swimming abilities ranging from graduates of learn to swim through to national open competitors. We are always looking to provide our swimmers with opportunities to improve their skills in a challenging, fun and rewarding environment. As an NPA swimmer you will:
- Train in squads, and in doing so significantly improve your swimming, meet new people and make great friends
- Get involved in Club nights, race your mates, improve your times and have fun
- Attend local Swimming Carnivals, represent NPA and enjoy the challenge of competition swimming
- Travel away with NPA to regional and national events, staying with the team, supporting each other and competing against swimmers from all over the country
We do all of this with the help and support of the swimmers families. We encourage mums, dads and caregivers to get involved with creating a Club environment that provides opportunity for the swimmers to take their swimming to another level. Our Culture is about getting involved; it would be great to see you helping out with the activities that make swimming a success. We look forward to seeing you and your family pool side.
